it cost more for the taxpayers to keep a prisoner up on death instead of killing them. Maintaining each death row prisoner costs taxpayers $90,000 more per year than a prisoner in general population. this is Drew

i support it, i think that if the person who shot someone should be dead too. if they didnt kill them but made them suffer they deserve life in prison. but it is cheaper to put the down and kill them then it is to keep them in prison. "Cases without the death penalty cost $740,000, while cases where the death penalty is sought cost $1.26 million. Maintaining each death row prisoner costs taxpayers $90,000 more per year than a prisoner in general population."

This isn't the time of the Hammurabi's Code. We don't do an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Let alone a life for a life. You shouldn't get killed for committing a crime. Because technically, doesn't that make the criminal the person who does the killing? But no, since the government approved it, it doesn't make it crime. That just doesn't seem justified to me.

88% of the worlds criminologists agree that the capital punishment is bad.

Also, 87% agree that abolishing the death penalty would not lower crime rates.

75% of the responses to this agree that “debates about the death penalty distract Congress and state legislatures from focusing on real solutions to crime problems.”

I believe it should be abolished because everyone deserves a second chance in the natural community. Also, if it's that bad of a crime then I think they should be put to death.

So i think the death penalty should be abolished because even with the death sentence there was still more and more crime happening every day. The death penalty didn't really have a affect on someone who knew they were on it because if anything that would just give them time to kill more and more people because they dint care because they already know they are gonna know.

i feel like it should be abolished because they shouldnt kill them even though they did something bad i feel like they should just go to prison

it should be abolished because no one deserves the death penalty on matter what they did if its so bad they should deserve life in prison or something close to that.

I think that the death penalty should be abolished because it does not teach the criminals a lesson or help them recover it just gives them a way out.To get the death penalty you have to do something terrible like murder and you get a minimum of 25 years and at that point most people wouldn't want to live the rest of their lives in prison .I think that people that commit major crimes should have to be locked up for what they did.In 2018 there were 63 death row inmates and most would probably want it as a way to get out of having to pay for their crime. It is not only a way out its inhumane, five states in the us still have the electric chair as a second choice. This is why i think the death penalty should be abolished
